Staying up to date with the latest technology in the eyecare space is important to us, and our optometrists are excited to be able to offer Amblyoplay home based vision therapy for our patients. 

What is Amblyoplay ?

Amblyoplay is a home based vision therapy program which can be used to improve the way that your eyes work. It is prescribed by our optometrists and is designed for children or adults with: 

• Lazy eye or amblyopia 
• Turned eyes or strabismus. 
• Eye-teaming disorders such as convergence insufficiency 
• Eye movement or tracking disorders 
• Focussing or accommodation insuffciencies

The program is designed to equalise the vision in both eyes and teach the eyes to work together more effectively. It is able to be used to train one eye at a time in ‘monocular mode’ or more commonly, both eyes together in ‘binocular mpde’. The algorithm tracks your progress to make the vision therapy more difficult as your eye skills improve. 

Based on your vision testing, your optometrist will recommend whether you or your child would benefit from Amblyoplay. It is ideal for children who may be resistant to patching or atropine eye drops for amblyopia or for people are experiencing symptoms from binocular vision disorders. 

There are 11 therapeutic games including tetris, crossing the road, jumping ball and memory match. The ‘daily training’ button should be completed where you earn points to buy accessories for your hero. 

Inclusions:  

On signing up to Amblyoplay, you will receive a starter pack which includes your personalised activation code and: 

• 6 months access to Amblyoplay
• Red green glasses for people that don’t wear glasses
• Red-green glasses clip-ons for people that do wear glasses 

If you wish to extend your subscription longer than 6 months, this can be organised through our clinic. 

Requirements:  

• One subscription can be used on multiple devices; for example, on a computer at home, and on a tablet when traveling
• An internet connection is required 
• The program can be used on any 7 inch screen: 

• Android tablets with Android 7.0+ (Nougat)
• iPads withiOS 15.0+.
• Computers running Windows 10/11 (64-bit) or macOS 11+ (Big Sur)

• Runs on Amazon Fire tablets that have Google Play Store installed
• Chromebook is not supported
• Windows devices need a keyboard and mouse to perform exercises.

Commitment: 

We will always demonstrate Ambloplay on a tablet or computer before prescribing it to ensure it is right for you or your child. It is recommended you spend 2 x 15 minute sessions on Amblyoplay, at least 5 days a week. 

For some people, Amblyoplay is an ideal addition to 8-12 sessions of in-office vision therapy. If in-office vision therapy is also required, this is charged separately to Amblyoplay.
